November 15 is the Day of the National Currency Tenge and Financiers Day in Kazakhstan.
On November 12, 1993, the Decree of the President of Kazakhstan "On the Introduction of the National Currency of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was issued. On November 15, 1993, the tenge was put into circulation.
Developed within one year, the tenge is distinguished by its high quality. The banknotes feature 18 security elements.
The first tenge were issued in denominations of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 tenge. Subsequently they depreciated, and later banknotes of 200, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, and 20000 tenge were introduced into circulation.
